Join a mapping region
FreqMapper mapping is by invitation while the network is being built. That is not meant to make it exclusive; it keeps the shared mapping channel and coverage results useful while each region gets established.
What to ask for
Contact your region administrator and ask for a FreqMapper invite key. They may share a key with a small group or use one that has a set number of uses. Keys can also expire or be turned off when a testing round is finished.
Use the actual key they give you — it starts with FM-ENROLL-. Do not use an admin-page hash, a screenshot of a key that has already been redeemed, or a normal Meshtastic channel key.
Use it in the app
- Install FreqMapper and open the Radio tab.
- Connect and let your Meshtastic radio finish synchronizing.
- Open Settings and paste the one-time region invite key.
- Read the radio name shown under the field, then tap Apply invite key.
- FreqMapper binds this app installation to that connected radio, fetches the shared wardriving channel, and clears the invite key from your phone.
The button stays unavailable until a radio is fully connected. That is intentional: an invite key enrolls a particular radio, not a loose phone or a name somebody typed in.
Tip
One successful enrollment is enough for that app and radio. Keep the key private anyway. If you replace the phone or radio, ask your region administrator for help rather than trying to reuse an old key.
If it does not work
- Check that you pasted the complete key with no extra characters.
- Make sure the radio says connected rather than merely appearing in the scan list.
- Ask your region administrator whether the key expired, was revoked, or has reached its use limit.
- If the radio was previously enrolled to another app installation, an administrator needs to revoke that old registration first.
