Test the iPhone beta

FreqMapper for iPhone is shared through Apple TestFlight while it is in beta. It is a field-test app: it needs a compatible Meshtastic radio, a real GPS location, and an invitation from a FreqMapper region administrator.

What you need

  • An iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or newer.
  • Apple’s free TestFlight app.
  • A Meshtastic radio with Bluetooth enabled and within normal Bluetooth range.
  • A region invite key supplied by a FreqMapper region administrator.

The invite key is not the same as a Meshtastic channel key. Keep both private.

Join and test

  1. Install TestFlight from the App Store and open the invitation link supplied by the FreqMapper team.
  2. Install FreqMapper, connect the intended radio on the Radio tab, and wait for its identity and channels to synchronize.
  3. On Settings, apply your region invite key. Then add the shared wardriving channel only if FreqMapper reports that the radio has a free secondary channel slot. The app will not replace one of your existing channels.
  4. Use Chat to send a short message on a configured channel. A locally queued message confirms only that the phone passed it to the radio; it does not prove a remote station heard it.
  5. On Map, grant precise location and start a wardrive. Check GPS updates, the local test markers, trip summary, and evidence screen. If practical, briefly put the app in the background and return while a wardrive is active.

Useful feedback

Include the time of the test, iPhone model, iOS version, radio model and firmware, and a screenshot or short description of what happened. Do not post channel keys, invite keys, message contents, Bluetooth addresses, or a precise home location in public feedback.
