FreqMapper v1.0.8

Summary

FreqMapper v1.0.8 brings easier radio selection, live wardrive status, selected-trip coverage sharing, and support for keeping an existing radio enrollment after Meshtastic 2.8 identity changes. Android 0.1.107 (108) has been accepted into Google Play closed testing, and Help now includes updated release history and tester guidance.

What's new

  • The ongoing Android wardrive notification now shows the mode, TX and RX totals, region, latest completed Watcher result, and countdown to the next scheduled test, so you can follow progress without returning to the Map.
  • A profile-linked Android app can now share coverage from selected completed trips. Shared links show aggregate TX and RX coverage without exposing the route, radio identity, packets, or individual samples. Unlinking the app stops its active trip links from working.
  • The new Update existing radio option lets eligible enrolled radios retain their enrollment, region, history, and invite usage after a Meshtastic 2.8 identity change. No new invite key or second radio enrollment is needed.

Improvements

  • After a scan, newly discovered radios appear above connection details and saved radios, with the strongest Bluetooth signals first. This makes a new, unpaired radio easier to find and select.
  • If the radio disconnects during a wardrive, GPS trip recording continues while radio work pauses. The same trip resumes radio work after the expected radio reconnects and its shared wardriving channel is ready.
  • The Google Play build includes the Android 15 and later compatibility improvements from the private 0.1.106 test build, covering edge-to-edge layouts, status bars, display cutouts, gesture and three-button navigation, the keyboard, and the splash screen.
  • Help now documents Android 0.1.107 (108), updates the current Google Play tester-build guidance, and provides checks for radio selection, Active Patrol notifications, reconnect recovery, trip sharing, Meshtastic 2.8 enrollment updates, and Android 15 and later layouts.

Fixes

None in this release.

What you need to do

Existing Google Play closed-test participants can update to Android 0.1.107 (108) when Google Play offers it. New testers must first join the FreqMapper beta group, then accept the Google Play test invitation with the same Google account. If an enrolled radio's node ID changed after updating to Meshtastic 2.8, use Update existing radio to retain its earlier enrollment without a new invite key.

Before replacing a private-installer build, finish pending uploads and link the app to your profile. The private installer and Google Play build use different signing keys, so switching channels requires uninstalling the private app; uninstalling removes pending uploads, local-only history and settings, and saved Bluetooth selections.

Mobile availability

Android 0.1.107 (build 108), built October 7, 2026, was accepted by Google Play for closed testing that day. Google Play controls processing and when each enrolled tester receives it, so it may not appear immediately. This is not a Google Play production release. The build supports Android 8 and later. The latest documented private Android installer remains 0.1.106 (107); no new private-installer build is evidenced.

Known limitations

Trip coverage sharing requires a profile-linked app and a completed trip. Update existing radio applies to eligible radios with Meshtastic 2.8 identity changes. Wardrive radio work resumes only after the expected radio reconnects and its shared wardriving channel is ready. Google Play processing and per-tester availability may take additional time after the track accepts the build.
