FreqMapper v1.0

Summary

FreqMapper v1.0 lets mappers share the coverage from one completed trip through a private-by-default, revocable public link. Shared pages focus on useful coverage evidence while keeping the mapper's route, identity, radios, packets, and individual samples private.

What's new

  • Linked users can choose Share trip for a finished, uploaded trip and copy a link that can be revoked at any time.
  • Shared trip maps show independently Watcher-verified TX coverage, privacy-filtered aggregate RX coverage, a coverage timeline, and public-safe signal and cell details.
  • Shared pages support the same street, topographic, satellite, hybrid, theme, and coverage-color choices as the complete public map.
  • Website profile controls make it possible to create, copy, review, or stop individual trip shares.

Improvements

  • Shared trip data is prepared in a durable privacy-filtered snapshot, making repeat visits faster while still refreshing after late uploads or new Watcher matches.
  • New links show an honest preparation status until their coverage snapshot is ready instead of appearing incomplete.
  • Help and privacy guidance now explain exactly what shared links reveal, what remains private, and how to revoke access.
  • Product releases now use one reviewed note across the Help site, GitHub Releases, and Discord announcements after production verification.

Fixes

  • Standard street tiles are requested by each visitor's browser, avoiding failures caused by routing those public map tiles through the FreqMapper server.
  • Stopping a share, unlinking its mobile installation, or deleting its owner or trip immediately makes the public link unavailable and removes its prepared snapshot.

What you need to do

To share coverage, link the app that recorded the trip to your FreqMapper profile, open a completed uploaded trip, and choose Share trip. You can copy or revoke active links from Profile → Wardrive sessions. No action is required if you do not want to share a trip.

Mobile availability

No new Android or iPhone build is included in this release. The website profile can create and manage trip links after the production update; the new in-app Share trip buttons require separately published mobile builds.

Known limitations

Only finished trips that were uploaded and retained as server sessions can be shared. A new or refreshed link can briefly show that its coverage is still being prepared. Anyone who receives an active link can open it until the owner stops sharing it.
